My name is Bennie Lee "Ben" Ferguson and I am an independent, write-in U.S. presidential candidate registered with the Federal Election Commission. My candidacy is unique in that I am the first offficial transgendered candidate for the presidency. However, my candidacy transcends social issues. The basic underpinnings of my campaign involve a determination to maintain a strong national defense and security for the United States, while at the same time ensuring the preservation of our basic civil rights and liberties. At first blush, these objectives may seem incompatible, but to me this is the great challenge of our time. It has been said that, 'Those who would sacrifice liberty for the sake of security deserve neither.' The overriding priority for the nation is to strike a balance between security concerns and personal liberty. My priorities involve providing adequate security for our citizens and the maintenance and preservation of our basic civil rights and liberties. All other issues, social, economic, or otherwise, are contingent upon these basic concepts. I invite you to research my positions on the issues and would appreciate your support. Thank you.
